Overview

Project Takatori is a high-voltage, utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) in Takatori City, Nara Prefecture. The 2 MW / 8 MWh project is designed to provide flexible energy storage services that enhance grid reliability and facilitate greater integration of renewable energy resources in the Kansai region. As the project progresses through construction, it contributes to the expansion of Japan’s energy storage capacity and the modernization of its evolving electricity market.

Development

Manoa Energy originated the Takatori Project and has continued to lead the project through all critical development milestones, including:

• Land acquisition

• Permitting

• Utility Interconnection agreements

• Execution of the EPC contract and progression into the construction phase

• Aggregator contracting in preparation for participation in Japan’s electricity markets

• Negotiation of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) scope and commercial terms to support long-term operational performance

• Project delivery management and stakeholder coordination through to commercial operation

Construction Management

Manoa Energy is serving as construction manager for the project, overseeing execution through to commercial operation. The project reflects Manoa’s end-to-end capabilities across acquisition, permitting, BESS procurement, and construction oversight.
