Overview
Project Infinity is a 50 MW / 100 MWh utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) under development in Maibara City, Shiga Prefecture. Positioned to serve the Kansai grid, Infinity will help balance energy supply by storing electricity during periods of peak generation and discharging during times of higher demand. This will significantly reduce curtailment and enhance the efficient use of renewable energy sources in the region.
Development
Manoa Energy acquired Project Infinity during its early development phase and has since advanced it to Ready-to-Build (RTB) status as of December 2024. Key achievements to date include:
• Obtained all required development and grid connection permits for the current stage
• Ensured alignment with the Maibara City Development Office’s environmental and greenery guidelines
Work continues to finalize procurement, grid coordination, and construction planning to maintain the targeted COD of January 2028.
Community Engagement
A community engagement session have been conducted to introduce the project to local stakeholders and address any initial concerns. Manoa Energy remains committed to maintaining open communication with the community throughout the development process.
Role of Manoa Energy
Manoa Energy is leading Project Infinity through every stage of development—site acquisition, permitting, and stakeholder coordination—and will continue to serve as construction and delivery manager through to commercial operation. Infinity underscores Manoa’s ability to bring impactful energy storage projects to life, tailored to regional needs and regulatory frameworks.
